Part Time Health Educator

Position Summary
The Health Educator is accountable for achieving measurable health awareness outcomes through the delivery of dynamic, interactive, fact based health education programs. This position is responsible under the supervision of the Director of Education and Curriculum for the development and evaluation of health curriculum and assists with other duties as assigned. This is a part-time 10-month hourly position and reports directly to the Director of Education and Curriculum. Position may require occasional evening and weekend hours.

Major Responsibilities

  • Learn multiple health education programs and present them to the general community, school groups, businesses, and not-for-profit community groups
  • Design assigned curriculum by reviewing literature from credible sources, distilling appropriate information, planning, implementation and evaluation of said curriculum in a timely manner
  • Adapt commercially available curriculum on specific topic to health program presentation compatible with the formats currently offered
  • Design and execute actual program presentation including visuals, graphics, activities and other learning strategy needs
  • Participate in team conferences, sharing knowledge, information, and ideas among team members
  • Identify opportunities for development of new programs
  • Assist with marketing of programs to the general community, school groups, businesses, and not-for-profit groups as directed by the Director of Education and Curriculum or Director of Marketing
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by the Director of Education and Curriculum or CEO

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in education, health, nursing, or related field
  • Teaching License or Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred
  • Two years experience teaching 
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

Job Description

  • Assist in developing and/or revising health related curriculum that meets health and science related US National and PSHE (Great Britain) curriculum standards.
  • Develop means to list how McMillen Programs align with both Common Core Standards and also Indiana Education Standards.
  • Develop curriculum kits as supplemental materials to our programs.
  • Develop cross curricular activities for existing and new programs.
  • Develop or revise cross curricular post packet materials.
  • Research interactive videoconferencing presentation best practices.

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with performing internet research 
  • Ability to work creatively and independently
  • Motivated, with a strong work ethic
  • Willingness to suggest different methodologies for task completion
