PSHE for the UK

PSHE Education available to the UK

The McMillen Center for Health Education teaches about 40,000 children a year in the US - over 1.4 million since our inception in 1981. We are now bringing our expertise in teaching a broad range of personal, health and social topics to the UK.

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) covers a range of issues faced by children and young people including nutrition and physical activity; drugs, alcohol and tobacco; sex and relationships (SRE); emotional health and wellbeing; safety; careers education; work related learning; and personal finance.

The McMillen Center can help schools in the UK meet their PSHE requirements through our Video Conferencing (VC) education. Through VC, students from the UK can connect with the McMillen Center to receive vital PSHE education. Through live videoconferencing, students will share in two-way conversations with our educators, interacting with the students just as if they were in the same room.

To meet PSHE requirements, the McMillen Center offers VC classes, for ages 3 through 19, in the areas of:
  • Human Growth and Development (SRE)
  • Bullying Prevention Education
  • General Health
  • Safety
  • Personal Hygiene
  • Nutrition/Fitness
  • Drug, Alcohol, and Tobacco Abuse Prevention
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Breast and Testicular Self Exam
Each program is aligned with the Frameworks for PSHE beginning at the Foundation Stage and going through Key Stages 1, 2, 3, and 4. Our goal for each program is to incorporate youth participation, making the learning environment fun and highly effective. Topics are age appropriate and designed to maximize positive outcomes in knowledge, attitude, and life-long behavior. Our PSHE Program Guide details PSHE statutory and non-statutory learning outcomes content satisfied in each program.
